Houston's in Century City to Close in October

Several online announcements say the Westfield mall location will close after 20 years in business.

in Westfield Century City is slated to close in October, Hillstone Restaurant Group confirmed Thursday.

Announcements about the closure appeared earlier this week on the restaurant's Facebook and Yelp pages.

The restaurant is closing as the end of the lease approaches, said Mei Li, marketing manager for the Hillstone Restaurant Group.

"I understand this is not happy news for many of our long time guests, but we ask them for their understanding," Li wrote in an email to Patch. "We sincerely thank them for their loyal patronage over the years and hope to see them at one of our nearby restaurants in the near future. Although they are a little different from Houston’s, they are all committed to the same high standards of quality and service."

The restaurant has not determined the last day the restaurant will be open, but it will be shortly after the first week of October, Li said.

Two commenters on Facebook were disappointed by the news.

"WHAT!!!!? How could this be? This is impossible! Omg!!! I must be dreaming, or well having a nightmare. This just can't happen!!!" wrote Gina La Rochelle.

"WHAT???? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is breaking my heart!!! WHY????" wrote Karla Rodriguez-Ruiz

Gulfstream, also owned by Hillstone Restaurant Group, will remain open at Westfield Century City.
