Condo Tower Developer Touts Community Support

The 10000 Santa Monica Blvd. project would create nearly 2,000 construction jobs, backers say.

The proposed condo tower at 10000 Santa Monica Blvd. in Century City has community support for its construction, developers and Los Angeles City Councilman Paul Koretz said at a media event Thursday afternoon.

Koretz and the project's developers held the gathering at the Intercontinental Hotel to show off design concepts and tout engagement and involvement of local homeowners' groups.

The tower, which has yet to be approved by city officials, is conceived to include 283 units ranging from 1-3 bedrooms each plus penthouses on 39 floors. Amenities include indoor and outdoor pools, tennis courts and ample parking, said architect Glenn Rescalvo. The project is intended to be LEED-certified green construction.

It would inject about $300 million into the local economy and create almost 2,000 construction and related jobs, Koretz said.

"This is a worthy project moving forward, not beset by controversy when the community is justly outraged when they are not involved," Koretz said.

The project is scaled down from the previous proposed design—460 feet in height versus 600 feet.

"It was a unique opportunity to comment well in advance of approval of the project," said Jan Reichmann, president of the Comstock Hills Homeowners Association.

Pricing of the units have yet to be determined but will be in line with market conditions, a spokesperson said.
