Alley Issue Remains as Sprouts Considers Westwood Store

The Westwood Sprouts would be located at the former Ross Dress for Less location at 1751 Westwood Blvd.

The use of an alley for loading and unloading grocery items remains a major hurdle in Sprouts' negotiations to open a Westwood store.

Residents have expressed concern that noise from loading and unloading store items in the alley that backs up to their homes would cause a disturbance.

The alley issue still remains, said Terri Dickerhoff, land use consultant with CGR Development.

Loading and unloading off of Westwood Boulevard has not been OK'd by the city, Dickerhoff said.

"From the city’s standpoint, alleys were made for loading," she said. "There’s no other option."

Westwood Homeowners Association President Stephen Resnick said that residents "generally would like to see Sprouts come in."

"It’s not the market per se, it’s everything associated with the deliveries," he said in a previous interview.
