Opening Night: 'By the Way, Meet Vera Stark'
The show will run Sept. 18 through Oct. 28 at Geffen Playhouse in Westwood.
The Geffen Playhouse will present the opening night performance of "By the Way, Meet Vera Stark" at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
The show, written by Lynn Nottage and directed by Jo Bonney, stars Sanaa Lathan as a former maid who lands a groundbreaking role in a "Southern epic" Hollywood film.
Nottage talked to the Los Angeles Times about her hopes for the play:

Her hope for "Vera Stark" in L.A. is that it "will open a conversation. That's what the play was designed to do." And of course, she "would be open" to a Broadway run.
Performances will continue through Oct. 28 at Geffen Playhouse, 10886 Le Conte Ave.
