"The Dionysus Project,” readings of Euripides’ Bacchae (evening performance)

Enjoy this special reading of Euripides’ Bacchae, a 2500-year-old Greek play about the destructive power of intoxication, featuring acclaimed film and television actors Keith David (Crash, Requiem for a Dream), Adam Driver (J. Edgar, HBO's Girls), Tate Ellington (The Good Wife, Taking Chance), and Michael Stahl-David (Cloverfield, The Black Donnellys).

Following the reading, there will be a town hall discussion with audience members about the relationship between intoxication and creativity, society's assumptions about addition, and the resources communities can use to tackle addiction.

Euripides’ Bacchae explores the allure and the destructive power of drugs and alcohol through the tragic downfall of a single family over the course of one day, revealing how family members play a critical role in modeling attitudes and behaviors for children regarding alcohol and drugs, and exposing how the introduction of a new drug can annihilate a community.
