Emmy Nominees Kick Off New L.A. Theatre Works Season Thursday

Emmy nominees Thomas Sadoski and Jenna Fischer will play the lead roles in a drama that will be acted out for a radio audience Thursday on the UCLA campus.

The L.A. Theatre Works will kick off its 2013-2014 season Thursday with a performance of "Reasons to be Pretty" at UCLA's James Bridges Theater.

The drama, which focuses on society's modern obsession with physical beauty, will star Emmy nominees Thomas Sadoski of The Newsroom and Jenna Fischer, known for her role in NBC's The Office.

The performances will be acted out in front of a live theater audience without sets or costumes and will be recorded for a radio audience by L.A. Theatre Works organizers said. The performances will then be aired nationally during L.A. Theatre Works' weekly broadcasts.

"In this hard-edged comedy, the stars are crossed as two couples in flux struggle to find fulfillment – begging an answer to the question, what is “pretty”?," organizers said in a news release.

Performances will run Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m. with a Sunday performance at 1 p.m. Tickets range from $15 to $50 and can be bought online or by calling 310-827-0889.

For those wanting to listen to the radio broadcasts, the performances can be heard on KPFK 90.7 FM or streamed on demand online.
