Westwood Resident Celebrates 100th Birthday

Esther Garfield, nee Grossman, has lived in Westwood for 30 years.

A Westwood resident celebrated her 100th birthday at Mary & Robbs Westwood Cafe this weekend.

David Hekmat, the owner of the restaurant, opened Mary & Robbs for the birthday party Sunday afternoon. Hekmat sent Westwood-Century City Patch these photos and this biography of Esther Garfield, who has lived in Westwood for 30 years.

Esther Grossman was born October 7, 1912 in Chicago to parents who migrated to U.S.A. from Russia in 1908. She married Harry Garfield and moved to Los Angeles in 1942. Harry became a Vice President at MCA. For the past 30 years, Esther Garfield has lived in Westwood and has two children and five grandchildren. His son Jesse Garfield a successful aerospace engineer worked for major aviation companies and her daughter Rosemary is a computer scientist who worked for the U.S. Navy. We wish her a happy 100th birthday.
