Portion of Sawtelle Boulevard Will Temporarily Close Next Week

A stretch of the road between Exposition and Pico boulevards will be shut down for construction work related to the Expo line.

By City News Service

Sawtelle Boulevard between Exposition and Pico boulevards in West Los Angeles will be closed overnight for 10 consecutive nights beginning Wednesday as part of construction work on Phase 2 of the Expo light rail line.

The small stretch of road will be closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night, according to Metro.

Construction crews will erect timber and steel forms to be used as molds for the bridge that will span over Sawtelle just south of Pico.

During the closures, northbound traffic on Sawtelle will be detoured at Exposition. Southbound traffic will be detoured at Pico.

Electronic message boards, directional signage or workers with flags will be used to direct vehicles and pedestrians around the construction zones. Local access to businesses and residences will be maintained, Metro officials said. Pedestrians also will have full access to the areas.

Parking restrictions will be strictly enforced at all times, and signage with specific restrictions will be visible, Metro officials said.
