BreadBar to Host Monthly Hatchi Truck Stop Nights

Starting Thursday, the Century City bakery/bistro is inviting some of Los Angeles' most coveted food trucks to stop by and offer its customers some new dishes.

Keeping tabs on your favorite food trucks can be an exhausting endeavor. Sure you can spend hours glued to Twitter following their feed updates and burning your gas tracking them down, but wouldn’t it be nice if you had advance notice and were actually able to plan your mobile meal ahead and plop it into your calendar?

Starting on Thursday, BreadBar, the Century City artisan bakery/bistro known for hosting a variety of pop-up culinary events, will present a monthly installment of Hatchi Truck Stop.

Each month, a guest food truck will roll over to BreadBar where it will park from 6-10 p.m., offering the bakery's customers a special menu to choose from.

The monthly food truck stop was curated by Chef Noriyuki Sugie in conjunction with BreadBar's corporate offices.

Ali Chalabi, co-owner of BreadBar, was among those involved in the decision to host the monthly food truck stop. “BreadBar has always been a huge supporter of local chefs and the amazing culinary talent that is abound in Los Angeles,” says Chalabi.

With an ever-growing addiction to eating from the latest and greatest food trucks, Los Angeles residents are excited for the opportunity to head over to BreadBar and try out some new foods.

“I’m very excited to eat at some different food trucks,” says Culver City resident Suzie Peterson. "There are a bunch that I’ve wanted to check out for a while. I eat at BreadBar often and am extremely excited that they are going to now have some food truck events.”

“The fact that I can sit down inside the restaurant and eat instead of walking down the street carrying my food and trying to juggle a napkin and a drink at the same time will be great,” says Kate Adams.

Thursday’s event will feature a one-night-only Asian comfort food menu from the Rokyo Gourmet Ramen Truck. Diners will be able to enjoy eight menu selections made with organic vegetables and antibiotic-free meats such as:

  • Tempura Eggs—Deviled and soft-boiled eggs with bacon-wrapped vegetables, miso mayonnaise and wasabi mayonnaise on skewers
  • Rokyo Ramen—Organic Ramen noodles in a choice of mushroom or pork broth, topped with braised pork or shitake mushrooms and organic vegetables
  • Bibimap—Green tea and lemon rice topped with mixed organic vegetables and sliced beef, topped with a butter poached egg and a spicy tomato-chili sauce
  • Kabuki Cake—Apricot, strawberries, kiwi and mixed fruits with a creamy purple lychee sauce and edible pansy flower

All menu items are $8 and guests must order a minimum of 4 dishes ($32).

“Our new series is a perfect example of how we can be involved in our city’s exciting culinary movement,” says Chalabi.
