Westfield Century City's Reindeer Project 2013 Coming November 22, 2013!

RENOWNED ARTISTS LEND THEIR TALENTS TO WESTFIELD CENTURY CITY’S SECOND-ANNUAL ‘THE REINDEER PROJECT’ BENEFITTING A PLACE CALLED HOME AND FREE ARTS FOR ABUSED CHILDREN

Holiday Art Project Showcases Original Reindeer Art Installations on Display at Westfield Century City from November 22nd through the Holiday Season Reindeer to be Auctioned for Charity at CharityBuzz.com

In an effort to spread holiday cheer and good will this season, Westfield Century City will host the second annual ‘The Reindeer Project,’ a holiday art collection of life-sized acrylic reindeer that have been designed by prominent Los Angeles artists.

The 12 Reindeer Art installations will be on display throughout Westfield Century City from Nov. 22 through December 31, 2013. The reindeer will be auctioned via CharityBuzz.com in support of local charities A Place Called Home and Free Arts for Abused Children.

The 11 participating artists include James Bond, Mr. Cartoon, Noah Davis, Yolanda Gonzalez,Karen Kimmel, Ponti Lambros, Man One, Colette Miller, Estevan Oriol, Gregory Siff and Sage Vaughn. The twelfth reindeer is being designed by the children from A Place Called Home, which provides educational programs, counseling and mentorship to South Central L.A. children and teens.

“We had such an overwhelming response last year that we decided to bring the Reindeer Project back to the local community as a festive way to celebrate the holiday season and celebrate art in support of two fantastic charities,” said Karla Villatoro, District Marketing Director, WestfieldLos Angeles.

“We’re expecting another exceptional display of creativity by a group of incredibly talented artists.”The reindeer for A Place Called Home tells the story of Billy Atlas, a sentient forest in the form of a reindeer that wanders the land, offering a home to the birds, beetles and flowers that have no place to call their own. Billy Atlas brings life to any desolate land by dropping seeds onto the Earth and leaving new life wherever he treads.

Artist Karen Kimmel and her husband, James Bond, who founded the Undefeated apparel and footwear brand, have contributed separate pieces. Hers is inspired by a traditional Swedish dala horse and features bold Scandinavian motifs and colors; his is a metaphor about excess and wasted resources. Mr. Cartoon’s airbrushed reindeer evokes the streetwise iconography that hasgraced the artist’s work on cars, album covers and tattoos.
