Weekend Planner: Pop-Up Painting Class, Play at Geffen Playhouse

A selection of weekend events going on in your neighborhood.

 

Westwood-Century City Patch has a list of things you can do in your neighborhood and on the Westside this weekend.

Wine and Canvas

  • Where: Jerry's Deli
  • When: Feb. 18 at 7-9 p.m.
  • Event: Wine and Canvas sets up mobile painting classes all over Los Angeles, and they'll be in Westwood Village Saturday night. Brush up on your artistic skills and they'll supply the wine, expertise and supplies.
  • Cost: $35

 

Closing Weekend! Red Hot Patriot: The Kick-Ass Wit of Molly Ivins

  • Where: Geffen Playhouse
  • When: Feb. 18 at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
  • Event: It's the final weekend to see Kathleen Turner in "Red Hot Patriot: The Kick-Ass Wit of Molly Ivins," as the American journalist who rose to fame for her flamboyant writing. 
  • Cost: $65 and up

 

Mapping Another L.A.: The Chicano Art Movement

  • Where: Fowler Museum at UCLA
  • When: Saturday-Sunday from 12-5 p.m.
  • Event: An exhibit about Chicano art and art spaces in Los Angeles in the 1970's. The exhibit continues until Feb. 26. For more information on the exhibit, click here.
  • Cost: Free.

 

West LA Farmers Market

  • Where: Near the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Corinth Avenue.
  • When: Sunday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
  • Event: Local, in-season fruits and vegetables for sale next to tents filled with art, crafts, flowers and prepared foods.
  • Cost: Free.
