UCLA Police Release Sketch of Hate Crime Suspect

UCLA police have released a composite sketch of one of the suspects wanted in connection with an anti-gay hate crime directed toward a student in January.

The suspect in the sketch was described as a white male, about 26 or 27 years old, 5 feet-9 inches tall and between 160 and 170 pounds. He had brown eyes with a shaved head, and was wearing jeans and a gray hooded sweatshirt.

The second suspect was Hispanic, about 26 or 27 years old, 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighed about 300 pounds. He had long, black, slicked back hair and was wearing baggy clothing.

The attack occurred around 1:30 a.m. Jan. 18 as the victim was walking southbound in the 400 block of South Gayley Avenue, near Veteran Avenue, according to UCLA police.

A dark colored, four-door sedan pulled up in front of the victim and two men got out and approached the student.

Police said one of the suspects threatened the victim with a knife and "stated anti-gay slurs," then the two suspects fled in the vehicle heading south on Gayley. The victim sustained minor scratches and bruises.
