Jeweler Takes Seat on Westwood BID Board

David Friedman will fill a merchant seat on the Westwood Village Improvement Association's board.

Longtime Westwood Village merchant and owner of Sarah Leonard Fine Jewelers David Friedman was voted in Thursday as the newest member of the Westwood Village Improvement Association's Board of Directors.

Friedman filled one of two vacant merchant seats on the board.

"[He will] represent the merchant community ... with incredible distinction," said Steve Sann, who chairs the Westwood Community Council.

Property owners, merchants and a UCLA representative make up the 14-member board. Together they manage the Westwood Business Improvement District (BID).

Friedman is "an impeccable choice" and will "bring wisdom and energy to the board," Philip Gabriel said.

The board also considered new farmers market management during its Thursday meeting, but took no action.
