Century City's Avenue of the Stars Goes Wild

More than 20 life-size animal sculptures will be on display through October 2013 in Century City.

Wild animals will become part of the Century City landscape Thursday as part of an outdoor art exhibition that features 22 life-size bronze sculptures displayed along Avenue of the Stars.

Created by Los Angeles artist Gwynn Murrill, the sculptures will be on display between Pico and Santa Monica Boulevards through October 2013.

Animal subjects include wild coyotes, panthers, tigers, deer, sheep, a horse and an eagle.

Murrill's exhibit, developed by the Century City Chamber of Commerce Arts Council’s Sculpture Committee, is the first in an ongoing outdoor sculpture art project in the area.

"Century City is the cosmopolitan heart of Los Angeles," said Susan Bursk, Century City Chamber of Commerce president and CEO. "There is no better place in the city for art to both complement and humanize the urban landscape. Gwynn’s sculptures will demonstrate a powerful juxtaposition between the natural world and the surrounding urban environment. It is the perfect way to launch Century City’s outdoor sculpture program."
